Botox is a neurotoxin produced by bacteria Clostridium botulism. It is the same bacteria that cause food poisoning and paralysis. Using the same mechanism the toxin is used to block facial muscles although in miniscule quantity. Thus reducing wrinkled lines on face and giving you a more refresh youthful look. It is a quick and safe procedure with no downtime. Botulinum toxin can be used as a wrinkle treatment to smooth:

Botox lasts approximately 3-4 months and thus it is necessary to have regular treatements to maintain your results. Once the botox has faded the wrinkles will return.
The procedure takes only a few minutes and requires no anesthesia. Botox is injected usually in 2.5 U increments. In general approximately 40-50 units or less can be used at one time. Each muscle group will need 2-3 injections using tiny needle.
Dr Vu will evaluate your areas of concern and discuss number of units needed to correct the wrinkles. Temporary swelling and redness will be present after injections but normally subside after an hour. An ice pack is placed to reduce minor discomfort.
